Home Study Support

Reconnect’s “Home Study Support” rolls out across Kent.

Following two pilot phases to test and refine our Home Study Support offer, Reconnect is pleased to announce that Invicta National Academy has been commissioned to deliver virtual access to a qualified teacher two evenings each week for upper KS2 (Years 5 and 6) and KS4 pupils. Starting week commencing Monday 28 February, there will be Maths and English sessions for KS2 each Tuesday and Thursday through terms 4, 5 and 6. KS4 sessions will cover Maths and Science every Tuesday and Maths and English on Thursday evening. Each session will have a focus, but these sessions are intended to give pupils the opportunity to ask for help with a specific issue or question in much the same way an in-school homework club might operate. The sessions are advertised as optional and as drop ins, although the pilots have found many pupils chose to remain for the entire sessions.

You should have received information direct about the Home Study Support programme, find a copy below. If you have any queries please contact reconnect.kentcyp@kent.gov.uk.

Additional support to improve school attendance - Years 7, 8 and 9

Reconnect has commissioned Salus to deliver its fully evaluated “A for Attendance” programme in secondary schools across the County. This is a school-based programme, working with small groups of pupils referred by their school because their attendance falls below 90% (note: not severely absent pupils). Salus will work closely with the participating schools and PIAS, and will be able to access other elements of support available through Reconnect to help the young people involved. PIAS and Salus are currently agreeing which schools in each district will be offered the programme and these schools will be contacted directly, shortly. If you would like to express an interest in your school participating in the programme, please email jody.brown@salusgroup.org.uk.
