Finding young scientists of the future

Encourage pupils to seriously consider a career in science by entering them in the all-new KM Bright Spark Awards

The awards require groups of pupils to work on projects using cross-curricular skills in maths, IT, science, electronics, and design and technology.

The three competition categories are Innovation, Investigation and Invention, and the deadline for entries is Friday, June 5.

Those selected to take part in the exciting Dragons' Den-style final will be filmed in advance in school to show the detail of the project. This will be screened at the event before the dragons made up of leading business people involved in the world of science and engineering begin their questioning of students.

The students will be invited on stage to describe their creation with the chance to win trophies and 'money can't buy' experience prizes.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team which is staging the event said: "Maths, science and engineering are critical to the success of the economy and it is vital to encourage the next generation to think about this as a career.

"KM Bright Spark Awards provide an engaging challenge to excite students with practical science. We really want to see what students at both primary and secondary level are doing, whether it's simple coding or designing rockets."

The deadline to take part in the KM Bright Spark Awards is noon on Friday, June 5.

To enter, complete the attached form.

Entrants should include a photo of the group in action with their creation and can optionally include a link to a video detailing their entry.
