Building a strong SEF and SIP for the 2025 Ofsted Framework

A focused leadership session on creating clear, strategic SEF and SIP documents that drive effective school improvement.

Due to high demand July's event is now fully booked.

If you missed out, don't worry - we've added this additional date in September so you can still join us.

Designed for headteachers, senior leaders and governors, this session will explore the skill of developing clear, purposeful and strategically aligned SEF (School Self-Evaluation Form) and SIP (School Improvement Plan) documents. Although accurate self-evaluation is an important foundation, the emphasis is on helping schools shape SEF and SIP documents that communicate a strong narrative, demonstrate strategic intent and underpin continuous improvement.

Delivered by George Hawkins, delegates will explore what strong SEF and SIP documentation looks like under the revised framework, with a focus on structuring content effectively, applying accurate evaluative language and ensuring priorities are clearly reflected in planned improvement actions.

Mark Rivers (a former School Improvement Advisor with The Education People, and Kent Headteacher, now Director of Education and Deputy CEO in a Multi-Academy Trust, and a serving contracted Ofsted Inspector) will also be attending this session. Drawing on his unique experience, Mark will offer delegates a valuable dual perspective on how inspectors view SEF and SIP documentation and what sets high-quality, credible strategic planning apart.

Topics to be covered include:

  • aligning SEF and SIP content with the revised 2025 framework
  • writing concise, evidence-based evaluative statements
  • embedding inclusion, curriculum coherence, safeguarding culture and leadership sustainability
  • ensuring strategic priorities translate into measurable, impactful actions
  • presenting a consistent narrative across leadership and governance.
