SEN inclusive practice
Our SEN Inclusion Advisors ( SEN IA) provide advice and support to mainstream schools to include children with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across Kent.
SEN IA are all experienced, qualified special educational needs coordinators (SENCos) and teachers with a variety of specialist knowledge and SEND qualifications
They have a wide range of experience from working in mainstream primary and secondary schools, specialist resource provision (SRP) special schools and pupil referral units (PRU)
Our aim is that our support to schools addresses the variable inclusion of Kent children and young people with SEND in Kent schools.
We focus on supporting provision planning for all children with SEND, particularly at transition from early years to primary and primary to secondary school. Each school has a link SEN IA who arranges Joint SEND surgeries for SENCOs. These are provided by an SEN Inclusion Adviser and a KCC Specialist Teacher.
We work together with other KCC teams as well as with other agencies. This includes Kent Educational Psychology Service ( KEPS) and our NHS partners.
We work closely with Kent Pru and Attendance Service ( KPAS) and Kent Educational Psychology Service ( KEPS) to ensure that children with SEND achieve good attendance at their school.
