The Transition Charter - appointments

Three, part time seconded posts have become available within the Education Directorate to implement The Transition Charter.

As part of Kent County Council’s work to deliver the ‘Countywide Approach To Inclusive Education’ (CATIE) within ‘Kent’s Strategy for Children and Young People with Special Needs and Disabilities 2021 to 2024’, three, part time seconded posts have become available within the Education Directorate to implement The Transition Charter (PDF, 214.9 KB). This charter was developed by a working group of Headteachers and KCC officers which sets out the responsibilities of schools and the local authority to secure excellent quality transition between all phases for children and young people with SEND.

We require three mainstream senior leaders; one from primary, one from a selective secondary and one from a non selective secondary; to join two professionals from the SEN team at KCC. This newly formed transition team will be responsible for the planning and implementation of The Transition Charter. It will also be responsible for reviewing the charter and advising on any improvements needed for the future.

Successful candidates will be seconded for the equivalent of one day per week and their school will be reimbursed for their time. This is a fixed term secondment from January 2022 to September 2022. Applications are invited by a letter of application which sets out how each candidate meets the requirements of the accompanying job description (PDF, 145.1 KB). Candidates must have the agreement of their Headteacher before applying for the position.

Letters of application to be sent to Jill Fennell at Jill.Fennell@kent.gov.uk.

Closing date for applications is 8am on Monday 17 January 2022.

Interviews will take place on Thursday 20 January 2022 and will be held virtually.

Prospective candidates who wish to discuss any aspect of the role, can email Siobhán Price on Siobhan.Price2@kent.gov.uk who will be very pleased to answer any questions.
