Neuroinclusive Education Network

The Autism Education Trust training licence in Kent enters its fourth year in September 2027 with a rebrand.

The Autism Education Trust is now the Neuroinclusive Education Network, after the National Autistic Society took full control in April 2026.

Across Kent, over 453 School Age and 315 early years settings have accessed Making Sense of Autism since September 2023.

All the training modules are now free to access for school age settings, training is face-to-face at a time to suit your setting. Trainers will then support schools to embed the learning at a follow up meeting, making it relevant to your setting. For early years settings there are scheduled training dates across the county.

All the Neuroinclusive Education Network training modules can be booked through the Specialist Teaching and Learning Service, for school age and for early years settings. For other enquiries contact aettraining@kent.gov.uk.

Training Modules that are available are for early years to post 16:

  • Making Sense of Autism
  • Good Autism Practice
  • Understanding Autism and Anxiety
  • Transition
  • Progression Framework Assessment Tool.

And for Early Years:

  • Early Years Developing Toileting
  • Early Years Developing Play.

Feedback from training:

"Numerous examples of effective practice given. Suggestions for whole school tweaks rather than lots of small but different changes for individual children." - school in Maidstone - Making Sense of Autism.

"I found the different sections both interesting and useful. I will incorporate the handouts when I interact with the children." - school in Thanet - Understanding Autism and Anxiety.

"The Autism Spectrum training was very informative and well structured. It helped me develop a better understanding of autism and how it can affect individuals differently. The examples used were clear and relevant, and I feel more confident in applying this knowledge in practice." - school in Swale - Good Autism Practice.

"I now have further understanding/knowledge of the senses; I would usually consider how stimulating environment in terms of sight and sound may affect them but hasn’t considered smells." - early years setting - Making Sense of Autism.
