Programme for returning teachers

Teach Again Ltd has a programme for returning teachers that is based in schools and can be integrated with Council teacher recruitment services

The Teach Again Programme helps teachers wishing to reenter the profession by providing them with recent, substantial experience on a teacher placement in a school selected from an existing pool of Teach Again primary, secondary and tertiary schools, academies and colleges across the UK who have signed up to deliver the training.

A structured and bespoke programme is agreed, which is flexible (minimum 13 hours per week), meets the CPD needs of the returning teacher, and will result in an enhanced likelihood of employment as a teacher. The maximum duration of the programme is 12 weeks, to meet the requirements of teacher recruitment agencies. However, teachers may negotiate a reduced duration and also progress in to paid employment at any point during the programme.

The training programme includes a combination of teaching and school based INSET supported by individually centered learning, mapped against teacher standards. Placements in teaching schools delivering School Direct or SCITT programmes are prioritised to enhance the experience.

At the end of the training the teacher will have refreshed their subject knowledge, be familiar with current practices, processes and procedures, and be able to evidence learner outcomes from having taught a number of sessions. This would be evidenced in a reference from the Head Teacher and would therefore facilitate progression in to employment.
