Pathways for All update May 2025

No young person left behind.

Momentum is growing around the strategic themes of Pathways for All, centred on ensuring that post-16 provision is ‘Accessible, Ambitious and Appropriate’ for all young people. The urgency of this work is heightened by the lack of places at Level 2 and below, and increasing numbers of NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training). We now have over 100 organisations across the county actively involved, including schools, colleges, training providers, the Local Authority and employers.

Local Collaborative Partnership Area groups (LCPAs), led by sector leaders across the county, are creating a more coherent local offer, centred on:

  • Mapping ‘cold spots’ in each area - identifying where there is a lack of offer
  • Focusing on transition, particularly for vulnerable learners
  • Improving careers education, information, advice and guidance to facilitate progression into education and employment
  • Making the process of applying for sixth form places easier to navigate and providing coordinated support around GCSE results day
  • Developing support and provision for those with mental health issues
  • Working with parents to help them support their young people into education and employment
  • Working with employers to develop pathways to further education, employment and training
  • Lobbying central government

Kent is a diverse county, and the work is deliberately focussed on creating local solutions and learning from the diverse thinking that this entails. From shared sixth form open events to forums looking to support those most at risk, sharing resource and provision, and strategically coordinating district level work, our mission is gaining momentum.

We have a three year strategy, which can be found below:
