Supporting pupils who are minimally speaking in school and settings
This pack has been produced collaboratively by speech and language therapists and specialists across Kent using the Balanced System® outcomes for speech, language and communication to ensure schools and settings have a strong starting point when working with pupils who are minimally speaking.
The aim is to help schools and settings get support in place quickly for minimally speaking pupils or those children who are not using any words at all - especially if staff have had little or no experience of working with pupils with this level of communication difficulty.
The Guidance Document is designed to be used alongside the tools and training links within the pack, as well as the resources uploaded on this page:
1. Universal Strategies: Minimally Speaking Children (PDF, 87.4 KB)
2. Communication snapshots (PPTX, 60.1 KB)
3. Planning for next steps in communication (PPTX, 840.5 KB)
6. One page profile (PDF, 487.1 KB)
