Inter Faith Activity in the UK

A new resource for secondary school teachers of RE about inter faith activity in the UK.

The free teacher resource was launched by the Inter Faith Network for the UK (IFN) on 1 April.

The resource is designed to help teachers in their planning when focusing on inter faith encounter and activity. It includes real life examples and hyperlinks to enable teachers to construct programmes of study for pupils aged 11 to 14. It aims to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the role of faith and the importance of cooperation in building a better society for all. The resource includes information about inter faith encounter, dialogue and action, and suggested activities designed to enable pupils to learn the skills needed for inter faith dialogue. It has been designed to support the delivery of locally agreed syllabuses and is ideal in the run up to and the context of Inter Faith Week 2021, for details see the inter faith newsletter

Developed with IFN’s member bodies from across the UK the resource has five Units which start with a broad introduction to inter faith activity in the UK and then explore: inter faith dialogue; inter faith response to social needs from homelessness to food poverty and climate change; and faith communities responding in solidarity.

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen an amazing faith and inter faith response to help others. Unit 4 Faith communities in service for the wellbeing of others draws on examples of that.

The Teacher Resource follows IFN's 2019 Resource for teachers working with primary school pupils
