Free rail safety assembly for year 7 students

Now booking for September and October.

As the new academic year approaches, schools are being offered a free rail safety assembly specifically designed for incoming year 7 students. This assembly supports key aspects of the PSHE curriculum by promoting the personal safety and responsibility of young people as they begin to travel more independently.

The session is an engaging and age-appropriate presentation that covers:

  • How to stay safe onboard trains
  • Safety best practices on the platform
  • Awareness of hidden dangers around the railway
  • The serious risks of trespassing and unsafe behaviour near train lines.

With increasing concerns around youth safety and real incidents of dangerous behaviour near the railway, it is more important than ever that students are equipped with the knowledge and understanding needed to make safe decisions while travelling. The railway can be a particularly hazardous environment, and for many students, secondary school marks the first time they begin using public transport on their own.

This free assembly, lasting approximately 20 to 25 minutes, provides a valuable opportunity to reinforce key safety messages and promote responsible behaviour from the outset of their secondary school journey.

We are currently taking bookings for September and October, and South Eastern would be delighted to visit your school to deliver this session. If you would like to book a date or have any further questions, please contact Katie Lees-Williams, Youth Safeguarding Manager, South Eastern by emailing Katie.Lees-Williams@southeasternrailway.co.uk.
