English Heritage Education: Walmer Castle and Gardens Art Competition for KS4 and 5
14 July 2015
English Heritage Education would like to invite your school to enter our Walmer Castle and Gardens art competition designed for KS4 and 5 students to complement your teaching in the classroom.
Walmer Castle and Gardens will provide the inspiration for your students to create their own piece of art – we're not limiting them to any particular media so they have the freedom to experiment. Well-known local artist Richard Friend* will be judging the entries and is happy to provide some guidance and insight at the initial stages.
The competition prizes are:
- £150 of art supplies for the winning pupil
- £150 of art supplies for the winning pupil's school
- £75 of art supplies for the winning sketchbook
Taking part is easy and we'll provide you with help and support:
- Register your interest by 25th September 2015 by calling Rachel Hudson on 01304 204475 or emailing Rachel.hudson@english-heritage.org.uk. She will send you a support pack full of ideas
- You and your students can visit Walmer Castle and Gardens for free. We suggest visiting in September and October to gather inspiration
- With prior notice, Richard Friend will meet you at Walmer Castle to discuss how you can use the garden as the basis for your entries
The closing date for entries is Friday 8th April 2016. A selection of entries will be displayed at Walmer Castle and Gardens' 'Blooming Gardens' event in early June 2016.
