Youth Fare Reduction Initiative - have your say

Kent Youth County Council is launching a new campaign to make public transport more affordable for young people - and we’re inviting schools to help spread the word.

The initiative focuses on:

  • Raising awareness of travel costs and available discounts
  • Gathering young people’s views on current fare schemes
  • Working with transport providers to improve pricing
  • Helping students save money on everyday travel.

How students can get involved

We’ve created two short surveys - one for buses and one for trains - to hear directly from young people about what they pay and whether they feel it’s fair.

Their feedback will be used to build a case for change, presented to councillors and transport companies across Kent.

By sharing their experiences, students can help shape future transport policies and make a real impact on affordability and accessibility.

Surveys:

We encourage schools to share these surveys with students via newsletters, assemblies, tutor time or social media. Together, we can make public transport work better for Kent’s youth.
