Youth Counselling Service
8 July 2022
Sessions available for 11 to 18 year olds.
Mid Kent Mind’s Youth Counselling Service aims to provide a safe and welcoming space where young people feel comfortable to express themselves and explore difficulties they may be experiencing. This service aims to provide a space which young people have ownership over - allowing them to shape their sessions and what they would like to get out of them.
Our Youth Counsellor is BACP Registered and works flexibly based on the needs of the young people accessing the service. This means that the style of therapy can be more emotion based with creative activities, or it can be an integrative style of counselling which incorporates cognitive behavioural therapy approaches. Our counsellor works with young people as individuals and ensures that their approach is tailored to the needs of each individual.
Each counselling session is 50 minutes - and sessions are booked on a weekly basis. Six sessions are booked initially with the opportunity for further sessions if required. Sessions are available on Wednesdays and Thursday between 9am and 5pm and can take place at Mid Kent Mind’s office in Maidstone, or through a Teams video call if appropriate.
Feedback from prior sessions has included “It feels good to talk without the usual pressure” and “It’s a relief to talk about things - as I keep it to myself, bottle it up”. We hope this emphasises the positive difference this service can make - especially at a time where young people’s usual routines and support networks may be disrupted due to the Summer Holidays.
Each session is charged at £15 - with a pre-payment of £90 for six sessions needing to be made before sessions begin.
