Trail with a Tale

Kent schools prepare for Trail with a Tale launch in Tunbridge Wells.

From Friday 11 July to Monday 8 September, Tunbridge Wells will be brought to life by a display of vibrant and colourful sculptures as Demelza’s Trail with a Tale event comes to town.

The summer event, in conjunction with Wild in Art, will see more than 35 large and small sculptures, beautifully designed by local artists and schools, installed across the town to form a fun, free, family-friendly art trail.

More than 20 schools from across the county have joined local artists to design and paint some of the sculptures, including hares, owls and snails, and they will all be unveiled and ready to discover from Friday 11.

Each large sculpture will be accompanied by an original tale written by Tunbridge Wells-based author Alex Brooks.

Families can get involved in the event with Trail maps, activity books and merchandise available at Tunbridge Wells-based businesses Ruby’s of London, Royal Victoria Place and The Lodge. Maps can also be downloaded from the Trail with a Tale website

As well as being a fun day out and encouraging visitors to Tunbridge Wells, the Trail will also raise vital funds for Demelza with the auction of four of the large sculptures later this year. For more than 25 years, Demelza has been providing extraordinary care to extraordinary children with serious or life-limiting conditions, and their families, across Kent, South East London and East Sussex. The Trail will also help Demelza highlight its services, which are offered in family homes, in the community and at its hospice sites.

Come and join the Trail and see if you can find all the sculptures!
