The Speech language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Kent Wide Design Events
24 June 2021
To support children and young people’s speech language and communication.
You are invited to join one of the following Speech language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Kent Wide Design Events to support children and young people’s speech language and communication.
Due to the outstanding response to our invitation, we have made the decision to run two separate events to enable everyone to attend who has shown an interest. Please take the time to sign up to the event which works best for your context. The places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
- Early Years Focused Event - Tuesday 13 July 2021 from 12pm to 2:30pm
- School Aged and Post 16 Event - Tuesday 21 September from 12pm to 2:15pm
These events are being hosted by Better Communication CIC who are working in collaboration with Kent County Council and Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group to redesign how we support children and young people’s Speech Language and Communication in Kent using The Balanced System® Framework.
The events will introduce the current work that is happening in Kent to improve outcomes for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs and to open a discussion over what SLCN provision in Kent could like in the future as a result of using The Balanced System® framework. They will be a great opportunity for us all to help build back better after COVID.
These Design Events will set out how The Balanced System® framework will be used to structure provision moving forwards using the detail of what families need from services and settings.
These workshops are open to parents and carers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals working with children and young people, early years providers, schools and post 16. We are encouraging all professionals to share this invite and the link with any parents and carers they know who would have an interest in attending.
