Tell pupils to take a hike!

Schools are getting a helping hand to successfully launch green travel schemes to pupils.

PowerPoint presentations are available for schools using the award winning KM Walk to School schemes Walk on Wednesday (WOW) or Active Bug.

Each engaging and easy to understand presentation has been designed for use in assembly to get pupils excited about walking to school from day one.

It explains how the particular scheme works as well as the benefits and rewards available to pupils for embracing green travel. There are suggested talking points to encourage discussion on health and wellbeing, road safety, traffic congestion and pollution.

Schools can use the presentation as a visual aid during assemblies or an aid memoir when talking to pupils about the scheme.

There is still time for primary schools to receive a 20% discount on KM Walk to School initiatives if they sign up before the end of summer term.

Simon Dolby of the KM Walk to School team said: "The initiative offers tremendous value. Schools joining WOW or Active Bug will receive two additional schemes Green Champions and Road Safety Skill Tests for no extra cost.

"Plus of course schools can always sign up using their Primary School Sport Premium grant."
