Suspicious Mail

We have recently been made aware of a school in Thanet who have received suspicious mail.

Today a school in Thanet received a note from the Royal Mail office to say that they had a letter or small parcel that had not been fully paid for and needed to be collected. The school collected the item which was a plain white A5 envelope printed with the school name and address and no further information. The envelope contained a DVD with nothing printed on it. At the sorting office there was a big pile of the same parcel for local schools.

In line with the ‘Emergency Planning For Schools Guidance’ the school treated the package as a ‘suspicious mail’ and called Kent Police on 101.

The police have since advised that schools do not pick up the post from the sorting office as the post office will dispose of uncollected mail without a return to sender address through the normal channels.

If you have collected similar mail, do not place the DVD into computer. If you have any concerns about suspicious mail Inform the police through the 101 non-emergency line.
