Sunguarding® Schools: building sun safety competence

Sunguarding® Schools is a free, PSHE Association Quality Marked KS2 resource from the Melanoma Fund, supported by afPE, helping schools in Kent and across the UK teach practical sun and heat safety as a life skill.
The programme was piloted in Kent and Medway, reaching over 8,400 pupils across 20 primary schools and demonstrating strong engagement and relevance. Designed for easy classroom use, the lesson moves beyond awareness to build pupil competence, helping children understand the UV Index and when protection is needed. Curriculum-aligned and evidence-informed, it is ready for immediate classroom use.
