Still time for young writers to enter contest

A creative writing competition is offering Primary school children the top job at a four-star hotel for a day.

Persuasive pupils could win a prize in the KM Charity Team’s latest Be The Boss creative writing competition - but they only have until Monday 10 December to submit their entries.

The challenge is to pen the best handwritten letter to a friend persuading them to swap being driven in the family car for walking to school. The youngster with the ‘write’ stuff will take the helm of the Ashford International Hotel and enjoy a VIP behind-the-scenes experience.

Entries should be written on a special activity sheet called ‘The Power of Persuasion’ available for free download at the KM Charity Team’s website. Submissions will be judged on creativity, persuasiveness, awareness of the benefits of green travel, and quality of handwriting.

The winning entry will secure one lucky pupil the top job at the luxury hotel where they will take on a range of fun activities, such as checking facilities are up to the highest standards, working with the concierge and greeting guests, and taking part in a mock interview.

Competition organiser Sarah Clyne, of the KM Charity Team, said: “Be The Boss is a great way to encourage children to practise their literacy skills and think seriously about their health and wellbeing - as well as that of their friends and the wider community.”
