School Meals, Premises Cleaning & Refuse Collection contracts

Important information regarding future contracts for these support services.

The current County wide school meals, premises cleaning and refuse collection contracts all expire on 31st July 2016.

You may have already been approached by various contracting companies offering to provide these services for you, so please be assured that Client Services are working on a number of different options for schools for August onwards.

There will be group contracts which are likely to be based on districts to encourage small / local companies to apply. In the next few weeks we will have more information regarding service providers and costs, so at that time we will communicate with all schools so that you have time to make your decisions.

Should a school not choose to be part of the group contracts, Client Services are offering to carry out a procurement process for individual or small groups. For example if you are federated with another school or part of an academy trust you may prefer to be more closely involved in the process by having your own single contract procured.

When undertaking procurements schools must do so in compliance with the Scheme for Financing Schools and the individual school's finance policy. Most contracts are valued over £50k, so a competitive tender and compliant procurement process must be followed. In fact many contracts are valued over £172,514, so they become subject to OJEU procurement.

Client Services will work with schools to provide you with a compliant tendering process that ensures market competition for best quality and best value.
