Reconnect Hackathon 2

Extension to deadline to register!

Our first Reconnect Hackathon event was so well received that we have decided to run another - Reconnect Hackathon 2 on Thursday 30 June from 9:30am to 4pm at Ashford International Hotel, Simone Weil Avenue, Ashford, TN24 8UX.

Join us at our next Reconnect Hackathon to unlock the potential of children and young people across the county to come up with ways to improve health, wellbeing and ability to engage with learning within their school communities.

On Monday 9 May 2022 schools were invited to register their interest in attending the Hackathon. We now have some additional capacity at the venue and can welcome more schools to join the event. Therefore the deadline for registering interest has been extended to Wednesday 25 May 2022. Details of how to register are included below.

What is a hackathon?

The main goal of a hackathon is to find an effective solution to a problem. It is an event that brings interested parties together to collaboratively problem solve in a competitive environment. All teams will be led through a series of activities to address the challenge set. Activities will be punctuated by interesting speakers to broaden perspectives and supply additional information.
A prize pot of £12,000 will be divided between the best project ideas so they can be delivered in schools and communities. Projects must be delivered in the next academic year.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to network, test initial concepts with the professionals in the room, and share ideas between schools.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided!

How to register interest?
Please complete the online form to register your interest in this event. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. You will be emailed confirmation of your place or notification that you are on the waiting list.

Once your place is confirmed we will ask you to complete a Team Summary Sheet, detailing the teachers or accompanying adults in your team (maximum of two) and the students participating in the challenge (maximum of five). The event will be photographed and/or recorded so we will require image consent forms to be completed and returned in advance for everyone attending.

The minimum age of students participating in the event should be Year 5. Teams may comprise a mix of student ages, and/or a mix of schools.

Deadline for registering interest is 5pm on Wednesday 25 May 2022.
