Reception Year survey to better understand the needs children present with on entry to school
Reception is a vital stage in a child’s educational journey, where early development, school readiness and transition from early years settings all come together. Kent County Council is launching a survey to better understand the needs children present with on entry to school, how these needs are being identified, and what support would help strengthen practice across the local area.
We are seeking the views of teachers, SENCOs and inclusion leads working with Reception‑aged children. Your experience is crucial in helping us understand the challenges in schools, how the support currently in place is working in practice, and where further clarity or support could make a real difference.
The survey is anonymous, takes approximately 15 minutes, and your feedback will directly shape how we develop and improve support for Kent’s youngest learners. Closing date for the survey is 3rd April.
As themes emerge, we will host webinars and small focus groups in Term 5 to explore the findings further. If you’d like to take part, you can optionally leave your name and email as part of the survey.
Thank you for taking the time to share your insight, as your contribution truly matters. Please take part in the survey through this link: School Reception Year Needs and Provision Survey – Fill out form
