Pandemic Superheroes

Free history and drama project for schools and youth organisations.

A free nationwide oral history and performance project for schools, youth theatres and youth clubs working with children aged nine to 13. Collect children's memories by Friday 30 January. Find out more on the Pandemic Superheroes website

In collaboration with the National Education Museum.

In Summer 2026 and 2027, thousands of children across the UK will take centre stage to share their own stories of the pandemic, not just of loss, but of courage, creativity, humour and resilience.

Pandemic Superheroes invites schools to help shape a brand-new musical production, based on children’s lived experiences and voices.

By joining, your school, youth club or youth theatre will:

  • Take part in an inspiring memory-gathering project at your school or youth club, using free resources provided.
  • Contribute to a lasting record and a guide for the future being created by the National Education Museum
  • Contribute to the creation of a unique play, written by a leading children’s playwright and composer
  • Have the opportunity to perform the (30 to 45 minute) play at their schools and theatres using the free script, music and performance license.

Over fifty schools and youth organisations have already signed up, but the more the merrier!

Participating is easy!

  1. Access all resources - slides, worksheets and a video - at the Pandemic Superheroes resources webpage
  2. Complete the activity with your children, ideally by the end of January. It should take about one hour, plus a short optional homework project. The slides include a guide for educators. You can respond as individuals or as a whole group, using the worksheets or a Google Form.
  3. Receive the free script at the end of April, for you to perform any time in 2026 or 2027. If you want to collect memories but can’t commit to performing the play, that’s absolutely fine.

If you have any questions, or would be interested in participating in a short webinar to find out more, please email pandemicsuperheroes@gmail.com.
