The Early Years and Childcare Service will be running the 1st Out of School Childcare Conference on Saturday, 13 June 2015 at the Mercure Maidstone Hotel
Out of School Childcare 1st Annual Conference - Risk, Resilience, Relationships and Reward - 'Is play a risky business?'
This conference is open to practitioners working within school based Out of School Childcare with an opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers:
- Professor David Bell, Middlesex University Risk Management
- Tim Gill, Author of No Fear: Growing up in a risk adverse society - Risk within a Play Context
Conference objectives:
- Exploring the myths surrounding risky play and how adult attitudes impact on children's long term outcomes
- An insight into providing further high quality play provision that builds children's resilience
- To support the connectivity between relationships and the environment
- To gain an understanding of how and why children seek reward through intrinsic motivation
Practitioners will also have an opportunity to hear about forthcoming developments on 'Out of School' childcare including Network and Briefing meetings, training opportunities through our new package of support and the development of collaborations. In addition there will be a range of market stalls offering advice, support and information to delegates.
Practitioners will be able to attend a maximum of 2 workshops on the day and can choose from:
- Let's ACTIVate Play
- Forest School
- Art and craft using free, found and recycled resources
- Playing with Fire: Risk and Benefit
- Nature Nuts
