New online fire door check course
5 January 2026
Headteachers and school management are responsible for implementing fire safety management procedures within their school.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that fire resisting doors are kept in efficient working order and good repair. In order to do this you need to ensure that your fire doors are regularly checked and records kept. However, the person checking the doors needs to understand how a fire door operates and the main components of a fire door.
This course will give you or your nominated person the relevant knowledge to carry out regular fire door checks to ensure you are meeting your legal responsibilities. The course is now available on Delta as part of the schools free training package that KCC provides.
See guidance on how to register for a Delta account
To complement the course a fire door checklist will shortly be added to the Fire Safety Logbook and will be available on KNet and Kelsi.
