New Inspection Arrangements from September 2015

Inspection dashboard

To support the new inspection arrangements from September 2015, we are developing an inspection dashboard. It will be provided through the RAISEonline website from mid-September.

To develop this product, we have worked with HMI and consulted with a number of stakeholders. These include headteachers, inspectors, data experts, ASCL, the Department for Education, and we will be meeting with NAHT later this month. The inspection dashboard is designed to show at a glance how well previous cohorts demonstrated characteristics of good or better performance. It will contain a brief overview of published data for the last three years using clear visual displays that are quick to interpret. Inspectors will use it to prepare for short inspections instead of referring to the RAISEonline summary report.

The inspection dashboard will inform the initial conversation between HMI and the headteacher, but during inspection HMI will give most weight to the progress of pupils currently in the school, based on the school's own information and the evidence inspectors gather.

The final product is likely to include charts based on the following RAISEonline tables.

For secondary schools:

• Expected progress and more than expected progress by starting points (tables 5.2.1 and 5.3.1 of the summary report)
• Closing the gap for expected progress and more than expected progress (first table in 6.1.1)
• Value added (tables 5.1.1 and 5.1.4
• Average point scores (table 4.1.15)
• Threshold data (table 4.1.14)
• Absence (table 2.1.2)
• Exclusions (table 2.1.1)
• Destinations (between sections 2 and 3)
• Prior attainment (table 3.1.1)

For primary schools:

The dashboard will be available to every school. As with the RAISEonline summary report, it will be provided in a pdf format and will be accessible to schools, inspectors and other authorised users through the RAISEonline site.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: RAISEonline technology upgrade

We are updating the software used by RAISEonline on 20 August. As a consequence RAISEonline will no longer support users with the Windows XP operating system. If you are unsure about which operating system you are currently using, then you can check this by following the link below.

We would recommend that schools communicate this information to their RAISEonline users including governors and school improvement partners who may be currently accessing RAISEonline from their home computers.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Extended system downtime on Thursday 20 August from 2pm to 10pm

Please be aware that the RAISEonline system will be unavailable on Thursday 20 August 2015.
