Locality Model for Special Educational Needs Inclusion consultation

On Wednesday 29 November the Localities public consultation went live.

Thank you and well done to the consultation team at KCC who worked so hard to ensure that everything was completed in good time with good governance. The link to the consultation is below. We would encourage all schools to engage with the consultation and consider responses.

There will also be a plan of parental engagement activity which we will share with schools in due course.

Also, this week, a delegation of KCC officers and school leaders visited Croydon College to meet delegates from other local authorities who operate the localities model. The exercise was extremely beneficial as there was much discussion about how outcomes for children and young people with SEN can improve through more cost effective and collaborative professionalism across the sector. It was a pleasure to listen to the challenges and successes from other local authorities; lots of opportunities to link up, share experiences and discuss ‘lessons learned’.

The consultation process will close on Wednesday 24 January 2024 and following subsequent analysis, an implementation plan will be developed and shared.

Please note that schools will not see any changes to their funding arrangements until 2025. Once the results of the consultation are analysed and published there will be further planning with schools as to how the funding will be allocated.
