Kent NQTs Membership Offer National Union of Teachers
17 November 2015
The national union of teachers is the largest teachers' association in Kent and the UK. We are offering newly qualified teachers' in Kent membership cover for £1 until January 2017.
The NUT is the largest teaching union in Kent and is committed to supporting NQTs. We maintain an excellent relationship with Kent County Council and other Employers in Kent.
The majority of Kent NQTs are members of the NUT. If you are not yet a member you can join for £1 until Jan 2017 and then at half rate until Jan 2018. To apply view information.
Further advice and guidance, including an induction checklist, is also available at the NUT website.
In recent years Kent NUT has:
- helped first year teachers who weren't getting proper induction support;
- ensured that NQTs get a pay rise after their induction year;
- taken action to defend members facing redundancy;
- secured union recognition in Academies Schools;
- successfully supported the rights of parttime workers;
- supported members in schools who were facing excessive workload;
- supported members at capability and disciplinary processes
- taken action to defend our pensions which are under attack;
- joined anti-racist campaigners in staging community events.
- run professional development course for NQTs
We have 11 separate Kent Associations and a Kent Division with a team of local officers ready to support you.
The NUT is a democratic organisation run by teachers for teachers. We are also attached to the South Eastern Regional Office and are the only Association who employ their own solicitors for the sole purpose of supporting members.
If you join the NUT you will receive regular updates and briefings, as well as invitations to our local meetings and social and training events.
Look on our local website for information on Events and News about our campaigns.
