Kent Approach to Preventing Exclusions - an invitation

Kent is launching a county-wide initiative to reduce school exclusions, recognising that permanently excluded and frequently suspended pupils are often among the most vulnerable - more likely to experience poverty, have special educational needs, face adverse childhood experiences and become involved in the youth justice system.

As part of the Kent SEND Strategy 2025–2028 (PDF, 3.1 MB), the Professional Resource Group (PRG) is developing a consistent, inclusive and evidence‑based offer for schools to help prevent exclusions. To shape this work, schools are invited to join a planning meeting using the PATH approach (Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope) to create a shared vision for reducing exclusions.

Schools can register interest and share their views through an MS Form. Completing the form by Monday 9 March will ensure they are kept informed and offered further opportunities to contribute to research, planning and development.
