HR Connect has published a new guide to help schools strengthen safeguarding culture by confidently identifying and managing low-level concerns. These are early, often subtle signs that a staff member’s behaviour may fall short of professional standards without meeting the threshold for statutory reporting.
This insightful guide outlines key examples such as blurred boundaries, inappropriate comments or poor judgement, and emphasises the importance of openness, trust, vigilance and curiosity in preventing issues from escalating. It also provides a clear four-step process - record, review, respond, reflect - to ensure concerns are handled consistently and proportionately.
