HPV vaccine - information resources for schools

New resources from the University of Bristol are available to support parents’ decision-making about the HPV vaccine.

The Communicate films are intended to address vaccine misinformation and were informed by the preferences of vaccine hesitant, ethnically diverse parents. You can find out more about the research carried out with families and watch the videos on the Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Behaviour Science and Evaluation research webpage. The Communicate films are located in the section titled “Improving Communication with Parents”.

Versions of the Communicate films in Urdu, Somali, Arabic, Polish & Bengali are also available on their YouTube channel.

Resources for professionals

Resources for young people to provide information and answer the questions they may have about the HPV vaccine are also available. The information aims to prepare them to be vaccinated at school and help them make the decision to be vaccinated or not.

The Educate lesson has been designed for delivery by any professional who may wish to discuss the school-based HPV vaccination programme with young people (e.g. school nurses, immunisation teams, youth workers). It is available to download for free here.

If you are a teacher who would like to deliver the lesson in school, you may prefer to use an alternative version of the Educate lesson developed specifically for teachers in collaboration with the PSHE Association. This version is available to download for free from the  PSHE Association website
