Health and Safety Premises Inspections

School leaders should develop and implement arrangements for carrying out premises health and safety inspections.

Inspections are a formal examination of the workplace or environment that aims to identify and correct deficiencies relating to physical conditions and working practices that create unacceptable risks to health and safety.

These inspections should be carried out three times per year using a comprehensive checklist and must be recorded with an action plan put in place. To support you, KCC’s Health and Safety Team have revised their health and safety premises procedure (PDF, 135.5 KB) and developed the HS119 health and safety premises checklist (with action plan) which can be downloaded from Kelsi and adapted to suit.
