Landscaping
Kent County Council and School Leaders have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all employees and others are not exposed to risks to their health and safety. Therefore, schools must make sure arrangements are in place to mitigate the risk of potential harm or injury from any hazard associated with landscaping.
To help you, the Health and Safety Team have provided a concise and informative presentation on landscaping which is available on KELSI. The presentation includes guidance on:
- Tree inspection surveys.
- Visual inspections of trees by school employees.
- Premises health and safety inspections (including landscaping and grounds).
- Gardening and grounds maintenance by school employees.
