Fantastic prizes available for book club schools

Register your school for the KM Charity Team’s reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club and your pupils could soon be benefitting from some fantastic prizes.

The spring-term prizes with Buster’s Book Club will give pupils the chance to spend time with reptiles, racoons, tarantulas and even CBeebies star Joanna Adeyinka-Burford, and try their hands at activities ranging from archery to crepe making.

The winners of a special Welcome Back Double Challenge Day taking place on 15 January will have the pick of two potential prizes.

They can either enjoy a whole-school assembly with zoological road show Creepy Claws on 27 February, or a visit from the team at outdoor education specialist Kingswood any time between 20 January and 7 February.

Creepy Claws will bring along a menagerie of their feathery, scaly and furry friends, offering children the chance to learn about minibeasts, perfect pets and habitats around the world in an exciting and engaging educational talk.

While the adrenaline-lovers from Kingswood will keep pupils on their toes with one of their high-octane activity sessions.

Then, the winners of challenges taking place on 22 January and 5 February will respectively be able to enjoy visits from Quex Park’s Pop-up Museum and The Let’s Go Club star Joanna Adeyinka-Burford.

On 3 March, the Pop-up Museum will allow the children of one lucky school to get their hands on curiosities from around the world. And Joanna will give a celebrity story-time session on either 11 or 18 March.

Buster’s Book Club uses a spirit of friendly competition to make books cool, and encourages children to read more at home on Wednesday evening.

Individual schools’ classes compete against each other to register the most home-reading minutes, with a weekly trophy awarded to the one demonstrating the most application or improved performance.

And the winners of monthly inter-school challenges involving schools across Kent are rewarded with vouchers for leisure attractions and visits by celebrity storytellers or organisations such as Kingswood and Creepy Claws.
