Expanded Childcare - Parental Survey

As you are aware, in the Spring Budget 2023 the Government announced the expansion of the Early Education and Childcare Entitlements to include children of working families from nine months upwards.

At the same time, it announced the expansion of Wraparound Provision for primary school aged children. In relation to wraparound childcare, schools should have now spoken to one of The Education People’s Childcare Sufficiency Officers (CSOs) working on behalf of KCC to find out what schools are currently offering either themselves or through third party provision on or off site to pupils of the school.

From the week commencing Monday 15 January, we are now also asking schools to distribute the link to the online survey below to their families to assess parental demand, the results of which will support KCC in determining how and where it will spend any capital funding for early years places and any capital and revenue funding for wraparound places.

Briefing note

The Education People’s Early Years and Childcare Service is conducting a survey on behalf of Kent County Council, of parents and carers and expectant parents to determine interest in the childcare entitlements that are being introduced this year and their arrangements for wraparound care of any primary school aged children. The survey will also gather the views of parents and carers using or wanting to use more childcare in Kent. This combined information will help us assess where there are gaps in provision. We would be very grateful if you could support us with maximising the reach of this survey by sharing the survey link below with families in your schools any other stakeholders you may have and if appropriate your own family and friends who access or want to access childcare in Kent.
