Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) - Update 2

The latest ESFA update contains information and actions regarding the Ukraine Education Grant, the Covid-19 16 to 19 tuition fund and a survey on current and future energy tariffs.

Ukraine Education Grant

It is expected that a new grant will be announced later this term to provide funding for pupils who have arrived in the UK as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme. Some information is already available although there is currently a lack of detail. The expectation is that funding is likely to be used for a combination of school led and countywide activities. Currently schools are asked to maintain a record of additional expenditure incurred for admitting Ukrainian pupils on this scheme only. Funding is not as yet guaranteed although suitable records will support any future claim.

Complete this energy survey and help us to understand energy use in schools

The current energy situation is challenging and many schools whose contract is due to expire over the coming months are trying to get the best value when renewing their contracts.

The ESFA are contacting all schools in England to get basic data on their current and future energy tariffs. Your answers will be used to help the ESFA to understand how schools will be affected by recent energy price increases so they can consider what additional support they can offer.

The survey is open until 1 June 2022 and we would like to encourage as many schools as possible to respond.
