Continuum of Need and Provision

The Continuum of Need and Provision document (PDF, 457.7 KB) is a phenomenal piece of work by the system to support children in all Kent schools and it is something of which the sector can be very proud. Particular thanks to Dr Alison Ekins for bringing the sector together to share their experiences and develop this document 'by schools, for schools'. The document builds on the Mainstream Core Standards and follows a similar format to demonstrate the commitment from all parts of the sector. The document is still in draft as there are likely to be announcements from central government in the Autumn which will lead to further development.

A further thank you to Inclusion Champions, KALE and Kent PACT who have worked to develop a document to support schools in having conversations with parents (PDF, 111.1 KB). The document gives a simple explanation as to the nature of the changes and supports schools in giving a consistent message.

KentPACT are also hosting webinars for parents to explain the developments and allow parents the opportunity to find out what this means for their children. Webinars are planned for Monday 14 July at 3pm and Wednesday 16 July at 6:30pm - for parents wanting to register please email info@kentpact.org.uk.

Many schools also host coffee mornings and other SEN events for parents. If you wish to have KCC attendance at those events, officers would be very pleased to attend and thank you to those schools who have already made contact.

Finally, on the basis of information back from the Communities of Schools meetings, both the Financial (PDF, 110.5 KB) and CoS FAQs (PDF, 356.7 KB) have been updated.
