Calling all young explorers - take on the junior cycling challenge
13 October 2025
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of adventure - and for kids, that feeling of accomplishment when they conquer a challenge is pure magic.

That’s why Explore Kent is inviting all young cyclists to gear up and take part in the Junior Cycling Challenge this October half term!
Whether your child is just starting out or already a pedal-powered pro, this challenge is a fun and rewarding way to get outdoors, stay active and earn a special certificate to mark their achievement.
How it works
Children can earn one of three certificates based on the distance they cycle:
- Bronze - 5 km
- Silver - 8 km
- Gold - 10 km.
It doesn’t matter where they ride - any route counts! All you need to do is send in proof that your child completed the distance. That could be:
- A photo at the start and finish
- A GPS tracking screenshot
- A short video clip of the ride
- Or even a written description from your child.
Once submitted, you’ll receive a personalized certificate by email to celebrate their cycling success!
Send your evidence and your child’s name to explorekent@kent.gov.uk.
Inclusive for all
Explore Kent believes every child should have the chance to shine. If your young explorer has additional needs or a disability, the challenge can be adapted to suit their unique journey. Just get in touch and let us know how we can celebrate their achievement.
Ready to ride?
Whether your child is chasing their first Bronze or aiming for Gold, the Junior Cycling Challenge is a brilliant way to build confidence, enjoy nature and make memories through cycling.
So grab your helmets, hit the trail and let the adventure begin!
