Schools have until December 17 to register for Buster's Book Club and have the proven literacy initiative in place for January 2016.

Buster's Book Club was created by the charity department at the KM Group with the support of Kent County Council. Following a successful pilot the scheme launched Kent-wide with 40 schools and 10,000 pupils taking part. By this summer, the children had collectively achieved more than two million reading minutes.

The initiative sets pupils an individual home reading target and a series of reading challenges throughout the year culminating in an annual record attempt. Children are rewarded with incentives and prizes including readers of the week trophies, tickets to top attractions and storytelling visits.

Alison Floyd, Early Years Improvement Adviser at KCC, said:

"Many schools in the county have found Buster's Book Club highly instrumental in involving families in getting the reading habit. This initiative would be an excellent use of pupil premium funding."

Register for the scheme before the December 17 deadline by visiting www.bustersbookclub.co.uk or calling 0844 264 0291.
