Back to school support and guidance from Kent and Medway Violence Reduction Unit
8 October 2025
With students returning to school and social settings, the risk of violence unfortunately increases.
Data from our unit shows that incidents spike in September, with the 3pm to 4pm period (directly after school) representing a particular risk throughout the year.
The Kent and Medway Violence Reduction Unit and Kent Police Child Centred Policing Team want to work with you to reduce these incidents and keep children safe. To support this, we have created two one-page guides outlining the resources our organisation can offer:
- A guide for schools (PDF, 1.1 MB) - this features our new learning module for teachers, Pol-Ed, which provides free, pre-prepared lessons on topics including online safety and relationships. Please share this with your relevant education leads.
- A guide for parents (PDF, 1.1 MB) - this includes practical tips on how to discuss violence with children, as well as activities they can participate in outside of school. We would be grateful if you could share this through your email or online parent communications.
