KYCC Disabilities Awareness Project Group Event 'Autistic Artistic'

A coproduced, youth led event showcasing the voice of autistic young people, focusing on their experiences of school and education in Kent.

The young people from Disabilities Awareness Project Group of KYCC are excited to announce they will be hosting an Autistic Artistic event on Wednesday 6 December. This year they have worked closely with KCC to create resources to compliment the roll out of Autism Education Trust autism awareness training for schools. They are keen to ensure that representatives from KCC, SEND support teams, commissioning, autism assessment and diagnostic teams and education have the opportunity to attend this exciting event to find out more.

This event will showcase the voice of autistic young people and share their experiences of being in education in Kent. As well as exploring when they have felt supported and unsupported to learn, they will be sharing their advice about how education providers can create a more supportive and inclusive learning environment for autistic young people.

The young people will open the event with a short presentation before sharing an audio track of autistic young people from across Kent. This will be followed by an opportunity to view artwork created by young people for the event, meet the members of the project group and chat to Melissa Devine, countywide lead trainer for autism.
