Active Travel Giveaway Opportunity

Kent County Council’s Transport Innovations team have some exciting news to share about our first ever “Active Travel Giveaway”!

It’s so easy to enter, all you’ll need to do is sign in or sign up to the Jambusters travel plan management website and check that your school’s contact details are up to date!

We are giving two Primary schools and two Secondary schools the chance to win:

  • Winning Primary Schools - you’ll receive a Scootability experience day and a free, installed, scooter and cycle storage “minipod”.
  • Winning Secondary Schools - you’ll receive a cycle repair stand installed on your site and a bike event day where bike mechanics will be available to service, check over and make minor tweaks and repairs to students’ and staff’s bikes completely free of charge.

Any Kent school can enter, we just ask you to meet one of our entry requirements noted below:

  • Completely new to Jambusters? All you have to do is ensure that you (or another staff member) have registered for log in credentials for your school’s Jambusters profile and checked that your school’s details are correct.
  • Already registered to the Jambusters site? All you have to do is ensure that your school’s details and listed contacts are correct and up to date.

If you’re not very familiar with the Jambusters site and you’re not sure why you should be engaging with it, then here’s some of the basics you should be aware of:

  • “Jambusters” is the website that enables schools to create, store and maintain a School Travel Plan (STP) document using free, and easy to follow templates. There are lots of benefits to having current STP; it captures a great range of useful information that helps to provide KCC officers, the school, parish councils, local residents (or any other readers) with a clear outline of the issues your school faces and the ways in which you are proactively encouraging positive, considerate and healthy behaviours during the twice-daily school run.
  • Once you have a “current” STP approved, Jambusters allows you to simply complete a quick “annual review” each year to maintain your STP and keep it up to date (this means you don’t have to complete a whole new STP document every year and instead would only need to do a complete STP every few years!)
  • The site provides, signposting for useful contacts, road safety, school crossing patrol information and other campaigns, like the Responsible Parking toolkit.
  • Through Jambusters we offer annual opportunities for you to apply for grant funding towards sustainable travel infrastructure - such as scooter and bike storage and EV charging points - to help you to encourage and promote active and sustainable travel at your school.

The “Active Travel Giveaway” will close at midnight on Friday 18 March 2022 and winners will be informed through the Jambusters contact. So get signed into Jambusters now and submit your entry!
