Thefts of school safes

Advice following several thefts from schools.

We have recently been made aware that several Kent schools have suffered thefts.

The thieves have forcibly gained entry to the school by breaking down walls and stealing the whole safe. The police are investigating a series of thefts from Kent schools where thieves have forcibly gained entry to the school by breaking through exterior walls.

While it is very difficult to sensibly protect a school from this type of forced entry, if this type of offence is on the rise it is a timely opportunity to review the contents of your school's safe. In particular, please ensure that the level of cash is kept to a minimum and regularly banked and that purchase cards are kept on the cardholder's person and not in the safe with the PIN.
