PATHways - free therapeutic programme for young people

Choices, Domestic Abuse Advisory Service are a fully funded charity and offer a range of services; one of their youth programmes is PATHways.

PATHways is specifically for adolescents who have been exposed to long-term, higher intensity domestic abuse. This project is aimed at adolescents up to young adults (up to age 24) who have experienced violent victimisation and are displaying signs of disengaging with their communities or are on the brink of the Criminal Justice System. PATHways will support young (potential) offenders to recognise the consequences of their actions, improve their strategies for resolving conflict and make different choices. Choices will hold 1:1 weekly, hour long therapeutic sessions over a period of 12 to 16 weeks. The programme is designed to focus on developing positive, safe relationships, educate around conflict resolution, empower and encourage personal growth and encourage behavioural change.

The programme is currently being offered in the Medway, Maidstone and Dartford areas. There is currently funding for this programme until 31 March 2020.

Please find a PATHways referral form for any young people you feel would benefit from the programme. If you have any colleagues or know other professionals who may like to refer young people onto the programme please forward the PATHways programme information (PDF, 161.6 KB) on to them.
