Is your school Cancer Smart?

Cancer Smart is a brand new awareness project for young people aged 14+,the project is a valuable resource for the PSHE curriculum.

This project has been funded by the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance in partnership with Social Enterprise Kent, it is free to access!

Cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide, including young individuals.

Awareness and early detection remain crucial in saving lives.

The Cancer Smart project aims to engage and educate young people about cancer, equipping them with knowledge and raising awareness around cancer prevention, early detection and available support.

Objectives:

  • Increase awareness of cancer types, risk factors and prevention strategies.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices that reduce cancer.
  • Empower young individuals to become advocates for cancer awareness and education within their communities.
  • Foster a sense of empathy and support for cancer patients and their families.

The Cancer Smart project is delivered through:

  • Interactive workshops
A one-hour workshop delivered in schools that provides fun and engaging activities to learn about cancer prevention and detection. Including how to look after your own mental health when supporting a family member or friend with cancer.
  • Drop-in service for educational settings
We can arrange for two of our staff to be on hand for drop-in sessions at your school. We will offer non-clinical advice, guidance, support and sign-posting for young people about health concerns.
