Writing in action conference
A half‑day event focused on building strong early writing foundations in EYFS and KS1.
This half‑day conference focuses on effective practice and provision for writing in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping children build secure foundations in transcription and composition that lead to confident, ambitious outcomes. Drawing on research‑informed resources and practical case studies, the event supports EYFS and Key Stage 1 (KS1) practitioners and English subject leaders to reflect on and strengthen current provision, so it is fit for purpose for all learners.
The keynote, Developing Super Scribers, delivered by Helen Battelley, invites delegates to rethink writing as a developmental journey that begins with movement, talk and imagination long before pencil meets paper. Exploring the crucial role of physical development, storytelling and communication, the session will demonstrate how purposeful experiences, classroom environments and daily practice can nurture creativity, independence and confidence in young writers throughout Reception and Key Stage 1.
