Getting it Right with Responsive Teaching: KS1
Practical KS1 training on responsive teaching. Assess learning in real time, tackle misconceptions, and adapt teaching for maximum impact.
Featuring Isabella Wallace.
Designed for KS1 teachers, teaching assistants and school leaders, this one-day session will explore responsive teaching in action - focusing on how to assess learning in real time, interpret pupil responses, and adapt teaching to maximise impact. It will combine practical strategies with evidence-informed approaches to support effective delivery of day-to-day classroom practice.
Featuring keynote speaker Isabella Wallace, award-winning author of Pimp Your Lesson! and Talk-Less Teaching, alongside George Hawkins (Senior Improvement Adviser - The Education People), delegates will hear fresh insights on how to improve learning through formative assessment and delve into the effective use of hinge questions.
Topics to be covered include:
- assessing learning in the moment to inform teaching
- identifying and addressing misconceptions early
- using hinge questions effectively to check understanding
- adapting teaching (‘the pivot’) to maximise learning in real time
- embedding formative assessment into everyday practice.
