A message from Patrick Leeson:

18 July 2017 weekly update

18 July 2017

In the last e-bulletin of the school year, we have a thank you message from Patrick Leeson.

Dear Colleagues

As we reach the end of another school year, I would like to thank you for your ongoing hard work and the improvements achieved in continuing to deliver better education and support for children and young people in Kent.

There are more children going to a good or outstanding school now than this time last year, as a result of all the effort to support school improvement. Improving the welfare, safety and life chances of all children and young people that we are collectively responsible for is the most important thing we can do, and all the positive differences we make matter for many years to come.

In the coming year there will be big changes in how we deliver our services. We hope to launch the new Education Services Company in the autumn, all of children’s and young people’s services will be integrated in one directorate and a new Corporate Director will take up post at some point in the coming months.

This is the time of year when we say goodbye to a number of colleagues. I would like to thank all those Headteachers and other senior leaders who are retiring, or moving on to new posts, for all their hard work to improve education in Kent and for the strong legacy they leave behind.

I hope you, your staff and pupils have a relaxing and well deserved summer break. My colleagues and I look forward to working with you in the coming year.

Patrick Leeson
