Bucket loads of fun for writing contest winner

Pupils can write about the superhero they would like to join in the walk to school - for the chance to win a day as the boss of Diggerland!

For a child, there aren’t many better ways to spend a day than riding around on diggers... but taking charge of a whole fleet of diggers might just be one of them.

Dougie and Dottie the Diggerland mascots meet Wowzer the walk to school mascot.

The KM Charity Team is teaming up with Diggerland in Strood to offer one lucky Primary school pupil the chance to be the boss of the theme park for a day - running more than 20 drives and rides, from excavators, dumper trucks and JCBs to go-karts, mini-4x4s and dodgems.

As befits such a high-energy prize, the competition has a similarly dynamic theme: entrants are asked to do a piece of creative writing about which superhero they would most like to walk to school with and why.

Be The Boss For A Day is open to primary school pupils in Kent and is part of the KM Charity Team’s Active Wow (Walk on Wednesday) scheme.

The scheme encourages families to walk to school with classes competing each week to be awarded the Green Class of the Week Trophy. A monthly inter-school green travel challenge awards winning classes tickets to leisure attractions or visits by storytellers.

Be The Boss organiser Sarah Clyne, from the KM Charity Team, said: “Boys and girls alike love diggers - they’re big, they’re exciting, they build things, they dig holes and best of all, they’re very muddy!

“It’s exciting enough to be able to visit Diggerland and ride on the JCBs but to be the boss is something else. If your children are mad about machines, this is a fantastic prize for them.”

To enter, download and complete the activity sheet at the KM Charity Team website
